Ubuntu Netbook Remix, launcher not running

In Ubuntu Netbook Remix, there are any number of situations which can result in a missing launcher (for example, connecting to a different session remotely). Since by default the panel in UNR does not contain any menus, and the CoF icon merely brings the (non-existent) launcher to the foreground, it seems like you can't interact with the system usefully... but there actually is a way.

First, find the separator just to the right of the CoF icon. Right click it, and uncheck "Lock to Panel". Now right-click it again, select "Move", move it over to the right a bit, and click the mouse. With that done, right-click and remove the useless CoF icon - it doesn't do anything useful for us in this context; we'll replace it with one that looks just like it but actually does something useful next.

Now that you've got some empty space available where the old CoF icon was, right-click that empty space, Add to Panel, select Main Menu, and click Add.

You now have working access to all the Gnome menus!
